-Synopsis taken from Goodreads-

When I met Donovan Kincaid, I knew he was rich. I didn’t know he was filthy. Truth be told, I was only trying to get his best friend to notice me.

I knew poor scholarship girls like me didn’t stand a chance against guys like Weston King and Donovan Kincaid, but I was in love with his world, their world, of parties and sex and power. I knew what I wanted—I knew who I wanted—until one night, their world tried to bite me back and Donovan saved me. He saved me, and then Weston finally noticed me, and I finally learned what it was to be in their world.

And then what it was like to lose it.

Ten years later, I’ve found my way back. Back to their world. Back to him.

This time, I’m ready. I’ve been down this road before, and I know all the dirty, filthy ways Donovan will try and wreck me.

But it’s hard to resist. Especially when I know how much I’ll like it.

I swear I had high expectations

It hurts to say, I’m quite disappointed. I don’t have problems with the plot honestly. It was fun indeed. But, I actually have problems with the characters and their attitudes and their mindset/prospect on things.

First, I must say I love the cover. It is so gorgeous. Screaming “I’m your boss”.

I don’t hate this book nor do I loathe it. I’m just disappointed because it is not what I expected it to be.

It is not a bad book nor it is a good book. It is an okay book for me Like so-so

First, Sabrina Lind. I can’t relate nor can I feel her. I can’t make connections with her. It’s so frustrating! In order for me to feel the story, I need to make connections with the characters. I must feel them. Yes, I’m exaggerating, I believe you understand what I’m trying to deliver. Well, Sabrina, how do I say this. Pretty sure I don’t understand you.

Donovan Kincaid, he is hot that part I understand. But, whats with the attitude? Push and pull is not fun nor can it be seen as mature, darling. Yes, I got it, you got issues. You have this sad past. But so does everyone else. He is playing the role as the asshole man. In short, he can be seen as the tortured alpha-male, but a scaredy-cat kind of hero. He wants her but also don’t want her. He denies everything. Of course, all this issue goes back to his past.

Weston King, I like him at first. I want him so bad, because he is your good boy, handsome and what not, he is $$$ (Donovan is rich too, fyi). After a while, hmmm where is my Weston King? My who would have thought you can be this complicated too? At first, he showed clear sign of wanting Sabrina then shortly showed different signs.

Apart from the characters, I enjoyed reading the plot. I like it. I got this anxiety, heart beating so fast when reading. It is a pleasure. Somehow the pleasure is mixed with annoyance. I like the plot but I can’t make connections nor can I understand the characters. So yeah, pleasure + annoyance = Dissatisfaction.

I’m not saying this book is bad. It is not bad actually, It is actually quite okay. It just that, again, the characters. Despite me giving this book 3 stars, I would love to read the second installment. Because hello, I wanna know what’s going on next. I hope the characters have improved.

I read other people’s reviews as well, and what I have found in common was that this book is not meant for everyone to read. Not everyone can handle the disturbing thoughts desired by Sabrina Lind.

  1. I’m very interested in reading this series however, from the synopsis, I get a feeling that there will be sharing and some M/F/M scenes. To be honest, that’s just not my cup of tea or coffee or anything. Can you please let me know if it is that or not?
Thank you and I really enjoy your blog; we share the love of many similar authors.

    • M/F/M scenes are not my cup of tea as well. I truly cannot handle it. Don’t worry, this book is definitely clear from M/F/M scenes. You are safe from the unwanted scenes (If I ever encountered those, I’m putting it on my ‘did-not-finish-list’). Thank you, that is a pleasure to hear. I’m glad we share the same interest, we can easily share our views 🙂 I hope you enjoy this book. Happy reading 🙂
