Goodreads synopsis :

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business―his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business―and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us―telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

Goodreads rating I give for this book : 4.75 stars

Beforehand, Bossman is told from both Chase and Reese POV. We wont be seeing a lot of Chase POVs actually. Chase POVs mostly in past form, where he brings you back to the past. Basically talking about his past. I’m repeating the same thing aren’t I? Have you guys read Egomaniac? If so, then the same format applies here 😊

Plot

“Fear does not stop death. It stops life”

Chase and Reese first encounter was when Reese called her friend for help. On account of, shes dying of boredom, her date, Martin pretty much talks about his mother all night. Way to go Martin cause that’s just how you entertain your date. *sense my sarcasm? No? Okay*. However, her phone call was interrupted by Chase, the sexy stranger . Hold up this is where the plot starts to get sexier. Chase went to Reese’s table and acting like they were childhood friends.

“Wow. It’s been a long time.” He patted his hand on his chest. “It’s me, Chase.” Before I knew what was happening, the jerk (who was apparently named Chase) reached down and gripped me in a bear hug. While I was in his arms, he whispered, “Play along. Let’s make your night more exciting, sweetheart.”

And here my friend, this is how their friendship-love story started.

Once upon a time, she applied for a job and Chase Parker is the boss. The company holds a strong policy : No romance-sexual relationship between co-workers. Will Reese remain professional? Will Chase ignores the policy just to be with Reese? Both Chase and Reese are alike, according to Samantha (Chase’s close friend) “You’re down-to-earth, smart, funny in a quick-witted type of way— a lot like Chase, actually” You gotta love Samantha for her kindness in this book (She is married, don’t worry people)

This book is filled with so many funny scenes, I laughed a lot. Some are dirty and some are clean jokes.

….as she filled me in on all the office gossip.
“And Karen in payroll is engaged to a guy who used to be in porn.”
“Porn?”
“It was soft stuff. But if you want to see his dick, just Google John Summers.”
“It would be really weird to Google someone in the office’s fiancé to look at him naked.”
“Lindsey crinkled up her nose. “It’s not circumcised. It’s really ugly. But it’s huge.” She held out her hands nearly twelve inches apart. “Like a baseball bat. Now every time I look at her, I can’t stop wondering how that thing fits. I mean, she’s so tiny”

description

Their relationship is hot and heavy until a past that is buried deep appears again.

If Chase has moved on from his past, question is, can he let the past go?

Reese fears love, but with Chase, is she willing to give it a chance?

Will this new brand of blissfulness lasts forever?

Chase Parker

It was my heart.
She was already inside my damn heart.
I could physically walk away from her, but she was already inside of me. Distance wouldn’t change that. She’d be in my heart, even if she wasn’t in my life.

Our hero is perfect freaking perfect . Chase has a raspy-throaty voice *I’m Imagining Chris Hemsworth’s voice* *fansself* He also has golden brown hair, masculine jawline, and a glorious lean body and lick-able tanned skin. Somehow I’m picturing Henry Cavill, but Henry is muscular not lean. But hey, I can imagine whoever I want. The sexier the better, who is with me????

PS : He has a dirty dirty mouth

It is a blessed Chase is not shy man, he is being honest with himself. If he wants something, he says it out loud. He is not afraid to tell Reese he wants her. Where can I get a man like this?? Who is straightforward?? Chase Parker is our ‘Bossman’ because he OWNS THE PARKER INDUSTRY, baby I’m talking money here $$$, he is the CEO. . Parker Industries is a company that produces products for women such as wax. These products are developed by a man, none other than our one and only hero Chase Parker. I find this concept amusing.

Despite him being cocky, all tough and what not. Chase Parker is a man of chivalrous character; gentleman. But not so gentleman in bed *Winks* He can be super romantic and territorial and has a genuine soft side.

Everyone has a past, isn’t it? Chase Parker is a man with a bitter and dismal past. A past that hurt him. A past he wished never happened.

He couldn’t move on until Reese came to his life and created a new brand of blissfulness.

Chased looked at me over his drink as he sipped. “I’m not usually. Yet I feel very greedy when I look at you. I don’t want any other man to even come close.”

If he has moved on, question is, can he let the past go?

Will this new brand of blissfulness lasts forever?

Reese Annesley

Chase leaned in. Touching my chin, he gently lifted. “Give it a chance. I might be the one who doesn’t disappoint you.”

A girl with class, I love her already. She drove a freaking red Audi, ladies.

I love her traits, she is very determined and work hard and very committed to her job. In spite of her having a nutty attitude, in which brighten her character even more. Reese Annesley is a woman who is scared of love. Why? because she is afraid of disappointments, her parents never loved each other anyway. Perhaps never is a strong word, another softer word would be ‘hardly’, if that even makes any sense? The way she sees it, her parents always argue with one another whenever they had the chance, sometimes, her dad wont come back home for few days. This concept of love ruins Reese.

Chase is not the only one with a sad past, Reese as well. Everyone has a past, that is something I agree on. Not everyone experiences the same shit, shit happens to whoever and whenever. Doesn’t matter who you are, the president or the heir to a wealthy company or whatever. If crisis wants to meet you, crisis will come and get you. As for Reese, her past made her aware of her surrounding (Safety concerns) it made her who she is right now.

But the truth was, the things I felt around the man terrified me. I hadn’t exactly been lucky in love. Neither had my parents. Could I find true love in the shadow of another woman?

Reese fears love, but with Chase, is she willing to give it a chance?
